Frequently Asked Questions

What makes CustomKraft different from all the other manufacturers?

CustomKraft manufactures the simplest, most reliable and versatile self-service in the industry.  The system uses a single deliver line to each boom in the bay with no in-bay check valves.  Any cycle may be delivered with up to eight different operating pressures.

How does the CustomKraft MultiPressure system compare in price to other systems?

CustomKraft MultiPressure system is a better value than other systems.  CustomKraft is able to provide higher quality components, more functions and thus higher revenue for competitive prices. The elimination of superfluous components equates to better reliability, producing higher revenue for a longer period of time.

What features are standard on CustomKraft pumping equipment?

CustomKraft manufactures systems with 8 to 12 functions, as well as, modular high-pressure units, MultiPressure by-pass and Variable Frequency Drive.

The basic 8-function unit is manufactured:

• Stainless steel tubular frames

• Lifetime warranty CAT high-pressure pumps

• Single delivery line to each bay

• 5 hp 3 ph high-efficiency Baldor motors

• Stainless steel/Viton stackable inlet solenoids

• Lighted din connection for all solenoids

• Stainless steel electrical enclosures

• DIN mounted circuit breakers

• Individual 100 VA fused 24 VAC transformers

• Wago plug-in terminals

• Bay hour meters

• Push button bay initiation switches

• 20 gauge 20 conductor color-coded control wire

• Copper inlet manifolds with Propress fittings

• Brass fittings with flange connections

• Liquid filled pressure gauges

• Individual stainless steel reservoirs

• High-volume tanks with electronic float system

• Low volume tanks with automatic proportioning valves

• Pre-plumbed for single cold and warm water connection

• Pre-wired for single primary voltage connections for each bench

• Pre-wired for plug-in control wire connection for each bay

• All functions and wire color coded for simple diagnostics

• Weep Mizer freeze protection

• If MultiPressure System, IEC motor contactors

• If belt drive, single bolt adjusting motor bases

• If timing belt drive, T-6 Aluminum timing belt sprocket

• If timing belt drive, ABS plastic belt guards

Does the CustomKraft MultiPressure system use more chemical and/or electricity?

No, compared to other manufacturer’s systems electrical and chemical consumption differences are negligible.  However, maintenance costs are significantly less for CustomKraft MultiPressure systems.

What features are available on CustomKraft meter boxes?

CustomKraft stainless steel bay meters are equipped with:Medeco “Tee-handle” high security lockLexan full-face decal3-row rotary switchLED7 digital timer with last minute alert horn Electronic coin acceptorMars 2600 bill acceptorCredit card system

How does CustomKraft achieve multiple pressures using one pump per bay?

CustomKraft achieves multiple pressures with two systems:  The CustomKraft MultiPressure Bypass System uses a secondary by-pass valve to reduce the delivered pressure in the bay and achieve low-pressure and medium-pressure functions.  The CustomKraft Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) System accomplishes multiple pressures by manipulating motor speed.

How many hoses are used in each bay?

CustomKraft systems use a single delivery hose to each bay boom; one for the center boom for low-pressure, medium-pressure and high-pressure cycles, plus one for each bay boom (i.e. foam brush, tire brush, foam gun).

How long does the CustomKraft MultiPressure system take to changeover products in the bay?

Typical changeover time is 3-5 seconds for the closest bay and an additional second for each subsequent bay.  CustomKraft systems purge with high-pressure, then drops to a pre-set pressure once the chemical reaches the spray tip.

Which components are eliminated compared to other systems?

Overhead or in-bay check valves

Low-pressure poly tubing delivery lines

Low-pressure delivery pumps

Low-pressure freeze protection systems

I currently own another brand of equipment, when I purchase a CustomKraft MultiPressure system, how will my inventory of replacement parts change?

Most CustomKraft components are non-proprietary, meaning they are readily available from a number of car wash sources.

What are typical maintenance issues with the CustomKraft MultiPressure system?

Components that come in contact with the general public are the highest maintenance items (i.e. bay hoses, foam brushes and trigger guns).  By eliminating components on the pump system, reliability is greatly increased.

What are the standard functions for a CustomKraft system?

Standard cycles include:

  1. Tire Cleaner

  2. Pre-Soak

  3. Soap

  4. Foam Brush

  5. Gloss Wax

  6. Rinse

  7. Spot-free Rinse

  8. STOP

Optional cycles include:

Bug-off Wheel & Chrome Rain X Tri-color Foam Brush Tri-color Foam Gun Luster Wax

Handheld Air Dry Tire Brush ClearCoat Marine Flush Tire Inflation In-bay Vacuum

Undercarriage Wash Rust Inhibitor Rubber Protect * Several other custom cycles

Why are some functions delivered with lower pressures?

Cycles are delivered with lower-pressures for increased application efficiencies.  The higher cost and more concentrated products are delivered with lower pressures for better control of application and reduced over-sprays.  Medium-pressure cycles are for products that are moderately priced or requiring faster surface coverage.

What functions are typically delivered with low-pressure, medium-pressure and/or high-pressure?

Low-pressure Medium-pressure High-pressure

Tire Cleaner Pre-soak Soap

Bug-off Spot-free Rinse Rinse

Rubber Protect Rain X Gloss Wax

Wheel & Chrome

What are typical pressure settings?

Low-pressure : 100 to 150 psi

Medium-pressure : 250 to 500 psi

High-pressure: 1250 to 1500 psi

*CustomKraft MultiPressure system allows maximum versatility for the car wash owner.  Any cycle may be delivered from 50 psi to full operating pressure.

Why should I purchase a CustomKraft system?

CustomKraft integrates the finest components and the simplest design to build the most versatile and reliable system available.  Due to the durability of the system, the life expectancy of the equipment is much longer, reducing the need for re-investment.
